You can be a part of the wonderful group of people who support Hospice of the Foothills and Foothills Compassionate Care by volunteering. Whether it is stuffing envelopes for mailing, creating gifts for our patients, creating stuffed teddy bears, or helping at events, there is something for everyone to do to help!
Butterfly Garden – Memorial Day Weekend, where we have hundreds of metal butterfly stakes “planted” in the lawn at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Each butterfly stake has a card attached that someone has sent in with a message to their loved one.

Mailings – Not every volunteer opportunity requires direct patient care. Sometimes, making a difference begins with something as simple as stuffing envelopes, preparing mailings, and helping connect our organization with the community we serve.
Foothills Compassionate Care welcomes volunteers who enjoy working behind the scenes to support our hospice and palliative care mission. As a mailing and administrative volunteer, you’ll help prepare important communications, fundraising appeals, newsletters, and community outreach materials that keep patients, families, donors, and supporters connected to our work.
Tree of Love – At the holidays we send out a mailing with beautiful paper ornaments people can write on and offer a memory or a tribute to a loved one. The cards are returned to us. The memories and tributes decorate various trees around our Nevada County community–in Grass Valley at the main offices, and in our gift and thrift stores.

We have quarterly luncheon meetings and regular opportunities for community and friendship. We hope you will join us when we get together to socialize, hear interesting speakers, and enjoy getting to know staff.
